Death on the Highway

I saw this somewhere in Arkansas or Mississippi. My mom happened to be with me at the time. "Don't touch it! They carry leprosy", she said. As though I have a habit of regularly jumping out of my vehicle to fetch dead armadillos from the side of the road. You can almost picture my parents having to explain to passers-by and fellow travellers, "Crazy, Jennifer--it's all we can do to hold her back and keep her from leaping out of the car and picking up the first dead animal she sees".

This picture speaks of death, futility, and miscellaneous.
